Roll out the “Joy Jelly” pass round the “Emotion Lotion” the new era starts here on the road to ecstasy and seventh heaven!!….. (Mid table mediocrity be damned!!). Our brave new world is likely to start without any brave new players, however at least we have hope, some certainty and some clear leadership.
Now is the time for all those who care about their club to step up to the mark, show what they are made of, show they are better players, managers, coaches and supporters than the current position suggests!!
I expect a vibrant atmosphere from the Hammers fans at least, I’ll be there as I know many of you will too. Belief is a wonderful motivator, let’s hope that belief has permeated to the players.
The team put in a terrific performance last time out away to Villa. Overall our recent form isn’t half bad but then neither is Portsmouth’s. Both teams have won a couple and lost a couple over the last 7 and Pompey have won their last two albeit in FA (Forgotten About) Cup.
West Ham and Pompey have met on 77 occasions with West Ham coming out slightly the better with 35 wins to 29. In recent times West Ham have prevailed at Fratton Park 3 times out of the last 7 with 3 draws and 1 defeat. Without doubt that makes it one of our better fixtures….
West Ham will have a strong midfield but not likely to have signed a striker in time for this one. No news on Carlton Cole’s readiness to play, possibly a place on the bench though not sure even that is likely. Nouble, who shone at Villa is surely worthy of a start with Diamante alongside him.
Surely we have to go for a win here. Pompey have improved greatly since the departure of Paul Hart, they will be very tough opposition though win we can, not least with absence of David James.
I am going for a 2-1 hammers victory. I hope the euphoria of the takeover finally complete will spread confidence amongst our squad.

Hoping that this game won't be another banana skin, with us dominating the game for long periods and falling behind to a weak goal or own goal late in the 2nd half , lets hope Zola has the team fired up for this match as this is certainly a 6 pointer to both sides. 2-1 West Ham but will probably be a draw. |

I know we can fuck just about anything up, but I really think we're going to hand Portsmouth there arses back to them. Sky high morale, a young talented striker with a lot to prove, I can see it being 1-4 quite easily.

Surprised by the over-confidence of some posters on this thread. Remember, we are West Ham. This is the sort of game that we usually fuck-up.
However, I think our team will be buoyed by the takeover finally being completed and dispelling all of their uncertainties with regards to their futures.
I'm going for 2-1 West Ham; but it won't be fucking easy. It never is with us. |

Mr P, many articles on WHO are guessing games... some are opinion based on guesswork and the Match Thread.. well where does that stand.
I try to invvolve some fact in my thread taken from West Ham Stats and variuos other reliable sources and a little bit of opinion.
You are right of course, its a guessing game but it also become something of a WHO feature.
If the burgers of WHO decide it should no longer be an article well fair enough... |
